Jim
Cooney serves as Associate Superintendent of Schools for
the Diocese of Orlando. As Associate Superintendent he
is responsible for curriculum development and
accreditation in the 31 elementary schools, one special
purpose school and five high schools of the diocese.
He
has served as the Chair of Accreditation Visiting Teams
and has conducted School Improvement Plan (SIP) training for
the Florida Catholic Conference. Furthermore, Jim
has chaired
many Peer Review Teams for the Southern Association of
Colleges and Schools (SACS).
His prior experience includes ten
years as Assistant Superintendent of Schools in the
Diocese of St. Petersburg, as well as serving as
assistant principal and principal at the high school
level. He has earned a B.A. in Sociology and Education and
a M.A. in Guidance and Counseling from the University of
South Florida in Tampa. Moreover, Jim holds a Florida Professional
Certificate in Administration and Supervision.
