Ms. Kristen Buffone Hughes is Superintendent of
Elementary Schools for the Archdiocese of Miami. In this
capacity, she is responsible for providing support and
direction to principals and administrative staff while
promoting the teaching mission of the Catholic Church to
the 57 elementary schools and one special
education school in the diocese. Prior to serving
as Superintendent, Kristen was Associate Superintendent
for four years and Assistant Superintendent for three
years. She has served as principal at two
elementary schools in the Archdiocese and has taught at
both the elementary and secondary levels.
Kristen
is a product of Catholic education having attended St.
Rose of Lima elementary school and Notre Dame Academy,
both schools of the Archdiocese of Miami. She
received her Bachelor's degree from the University of
Georgia and her Master's degree from Florida
International University. She is a member of the
FCC Accreditation Committee and has served on many
accreditation teams for both the Florida Catholic
Conference and the Southern Association of Colleges and
Schools.
In addition to her membership on the FCCAC, Kristen also
serves an important role for our Catholic educational
system as the current Chair for the FCC's Schools
Executive Committee (SEC).
