2. Staff/Student Ratios

Staff/student ratios shall be maintained in relation to the age of the student.

GRADE LEVEL	STAFF/STUDENT RATIO
Pre-Kindergarten 3 Years	*A part-time teacher assistant is required for 11-15 students.
	A full-time teacher assistant is required for 16-20 students.
Pre-Kindergarten 4 Years	*A part-time teacher assistant is required for 16-20 students.
	A full-time teacher assistant is required for 21-25 students.
Kindergarten	*A part-time teacher assistant is required for 21-25 students.
	A full-time teacher assistant is required for 26-30 students.
Grade 1	A part-time teacher assistant is required for 1-25 students.
	A full-time teacher assistant is required for 26-35 students.
Grades 2-3	A part-time teacher assistant is recommended for 1-30 students.
	A part-time teacher assistant is required for 31-35 students.
Grades 4-8	At least one part-time teacher assistant(s) shared among these grades is recommended for 1-35 students.
Note: There will be a grace period of one full academic year* to implement the part-time teacher assistant at the Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten levels. In other words, these particular requirements are being introduced during the 2008-09 academic year, but are effective as of 2009-10.
