Explanation of Changes Made during 2007-08 School Year; for Area E, Administration Standard 2 (Teacher Assistants)

            Area E: Administration

2. Staff/Student Ratios

Staff/student ratios shall be maintained in relation to the age of the student.

GRADE LEVEL

STAFF/STUDENT RATIO

 

Pre-Kindergarten 3 Years

A consistent part-time teacher assistant is recommended required for 11-15 students.

 

 

A full-time teacher assistant is required for 16-20 students.

 

Pre-Kindergarten 4 Years

A consistent part-time teacher assistant is recommended required for 16-20 students.

 

 

A full-time teacher assistant is required for 21-25 students.

 

Kindergarten

A consistent part-time teacher assistant is recommended required for 21-25 students.

 

 

A full-time teacher assistant is required for 26-30 students.

 

Grade 1

A part-time teacher assistant is required for 1-25 students.

 

 

A full-time teacher assistant is required for 26-35 students.

 

Grades 2-3

A part-time teacher assistant is recommended for 1-30 students.

 

 

A part-time teacher assistant is required for 31-35 students.

 

Grades 4-8

At least one part-time teacher assistant(s) shared among these grades is recommended for 1-3035 students.

 

 

At least one part-time teacher assistant(s) shared among these grades is required for 1-35 students.

 

A consistent teacher assistant is the same person(s) who is present on a regular basis in the classroom, either full or part time.
