"Principles and
Standards" Revised to Include Addendum for Special Purpose Schools/
Programs
In December 2003, the Ad Hoc "Special
Purpose Schools Standards" Committee held its first meeting.
After years of discussions and feedback from interested
stakeholders (Catholic school principals, pastors, staff, parents, students,
etc.), the group's hard work has yielded fruit in the form
of an Addendum to the Florida Catholic Conference (FCC) "Principles and Standards" Manual for elementary schools,
which was approved in June 2006 by the FCC Accreditation
Committee. Here is an excerpt from the addendum
which explains the rationale for these standards:
"This Addendum
... has been designed to better serve schools that provide
specifically for students with varying exceptionalities. It
enables these schools to realistically meet accreditation
requirements, while remaining true to the complexity of
meeting the targeted needs of the population they serve.
Further, this Addendum seeks to encourage these schools to
develop stronger and better-defined programs of
differentiated instruction, more comprehensive student
services, and ongoing accountability for teaching and
learning."

and addendum in PDF (Adobe program).
