Re: S. J. Res. 30, the proposed Federal Marriage Amendment
Dear Senator Graham,
In the very near future, the United States Senate will
consider a proposed amendment to the United States Constitution that would
define marriage as only the union of a man and a woman. Marriage is a basic institution in society,
uniquely designed by God to bring children into the world.
As a member of the State of Florida’s Commission on
Marriage and Family Support Initiatives, I have access to data that proves children are
healthier and more stable in homes where a mother and a father are the role
models. Giving legal status to same sex unions would impact the common good and weaken morality
by declaring same sex unions equal to marriage.
Please consider signing on as a co-sponsor to S. J. Res.
30. The family is straining to survive the many assaults in modern day society.
Recognition of same sex unions would be another blow to the natural order currently
supported by the laws of the state and recognized by churches. Your help in opposing any
efforts to “filibuster” and allow this issue to come to a vote would be
appreciated.
Thank you for all you do for the nation.
May God continue to bless you and your family.
Sincerely,
Sheila S. Hopkins
