Tallahassee, FL — The Governor, Cabinet, the Legislature, Justices, Judges, Attorneys, Law School Faculty and Students are invited to attend the XXVI Annual Red Mass, the Votive Mass of the Holy Spirit, at the Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More on Tennessee Street near Florida State University campus on March 7, 2001 at 6:00 p.m.  The Mass will be con-celebrated by Archbishop John C. Favalora and all the Catholic Bishops of the State of Florida.

This seven hundred year old custom dates back to England and France during the 12th and 13th century when the bench and bar joined in a special Mass at the beginning of the Judicial session to pray for Divine Guidance.

At this time in Florida’s history with so many issues affecting our society it seems appropriate to devote some special time in prayer.

Reverend Drew Christiansen, S.J., is the Senior Fellow and Director of the International Visiting Fellows Program, Woodstock Theological Center at Georgetown University.  He also serves as Counselor on International Affairs to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.  Reverend Drew Christiansen, S.J. will deliver the homily on
"Gospel, Law and the Poor."

A reception will follow the service. All are invited.
