Florida Bishops Encourage Prayer for All in Path of Hurricane Ivan

 Dear Floridians of all Faiths:

             Let us join together as brothers and sisters in calling upon Almighty God to subdue the winds of Hurricane Ivan bearing down on our state.  Let us pray that these winds be diminished, that the storm be weakened, and that all people and property be spared from its destruction. 

             All-powerful and ever-living God, all the elements of nature obey your command.  Calm the winds of Hurricane Ivan that threaten us and turn our fear into trust and praise of your goodness. 

             Amen.
